Early in the 20th century, the ratio was used to specify the world format starting with 1 cm (0.39 in) as the short edge of the smallest size. Walter Porstmann started with the largest sizes instead, assigning one an area of 1 m2 (11 sq ft) (A0).
The precise paper standard from A0 / A1 / A2 / A3 and A4 in an AI animation displaying near square meter size in millimeter, the paper sheets sides (dimensions) and it’s height/width Ratio – How many millimeter high and wide do you think a perfect sheet should be?
Try it out by entering height and width in the boxes.
